Why You Should Hire a Handyman Prior to Selling Your Home

Thinking about selling your home soon? Before putting it on the market, we suggest hiring a handyman prior to having your listing photos taken and then putting it on the market. We’ve seen too many bad DIY jobs which negatively affect how prospective buyers view your home.

Spruce Up Landscaping

Have you replaced the mulch in your yard or trimmed the bushes recently? Do you have patches of dead grass or are the flower beds looking a little rough? Does your mailbox need to be replaced? A handyman can take care of all of these things for you and more. Your home will look fabulous once the work is complete which will really “wow” your buyers.

Take Care of Odd Jobs

Common repairs handymen fix are broken garbage disposals, fixing or installing shelves, replacing tiles, cleaning gutters, and removing wallpaper. These would all be necessary fixes prior to listing your home. These are also some things that a home inspector might call out. It’s better to take care of these things beforehand so that your inspection comes back with little discrepancies.

Refresh Paint on Walls

There’s nothing like a fresh coat of paint on the walls! Painting the floorboards and walls prior to listing your home will make the home look newer and cleaner which would be attractive to someone coming to look at the home for the first time. Dirty walls and chipping paint are typically pretty noticeable during showings, so to ensure a positive first impression, be sure to take care of this!

A handyman can also find things in your home that may need touch-ups or need to be fixed that you may have overlooked. This is why it is important to hire a professional to take care of the odds and ends that need fixing prior to listing your home! Having your home in tip-top shape could ensure a faster sell, too.

We have several handymen we like to recommend. Need a referral? Just ask us!
